Live Scan Fingerprinting FAQ – Los Angeles
Live Scan is an electronic method of capturing and submitting fingerprints directly to the California DOJ and FBI. It is faster and more reliable than traditional ink fingerprinting.
Live Scan is required for employment background checks (teachers, healthcare workers, security guards, childcare), professional licensing, volunteering with children, immigration applications, and adoption.
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID and the completed BCIA 8016 Live Scan Request Form (provided by your employer or agency). We can provide a blank form if needed.
Our rolling fee is $40. DOJ and FBI processing fees vary by agency and are set by the government.
No. Walk-ins are welcome during all business hours: Mon-Fri 9AM-4PM, Saturday 10AM-2PM.
The fingerprinting process takes about 10-15 minutes. Electronic results are typically received by the requesting agency within a few business days.
We accept cash, credit/debit cards.
Visit the California DOJ Applicant Status portal at applicants.doj.ca.gov. You will need your ATI number from your receipt.
